It feels like forever since I’ve written anything. Since my last blog, I’ve taken in 3 different fosters. Back in September when I fostered, Ziggy the Piggy, a friend of mine and Priceless Pets volunteer mentioned to me that one day she would get a kiss from a “pit bull”. Lynnette is also on the committee for NKCH! She had expressed to me her fear of the breed and would muster up the courage to get that kiss. George is an 11 year old, beagle/basenji mix. He ended up in the Carson shelter when his previous owner of 5 years lost his home. Through a beagle loving Facebook group he was pulled just hours before he was scheduled to be put down. George’s favorite thing is FETCH! He loves to run and chase balls and frisbees. I am not proud to admit that I bought into the frenzy. I read stories about how pit bulls attacked people and that they were inherently dangerous. I knew they were the types of breeds most often used in dog fighting. As most of you know by now, I’ve become a foster failure for the 3rd time. After almost a year of being a resident of Priceless Pets, he’s found his home with me and my pack. Being away with him for 5 days put me in a very emotional state and when I came back I needed to re-assess how I was feeling after my emotions had calmed down. Between my dogs and the fosters that have come through here in the past 2 and half years, there’s been easily 40 dogs that I’ve worked with. This doesn’t even include the dogs at the rescue that I’ve worked with while they were there. For every “issue” a dog has, there are a million different ways to deal with it. And while I don’t have kids, it seems that parenting is a lot like dog training. Everyone has their own way and if you’re not doing it their way, you way sucks.......

Everyone meet Shirley. Shirley is 2ish years old and is currently in foster with Priceless Pet Rescue. This beautiful dog came to them pregnant and like most pregnant mom dogs, all her puppies found homes and she is still looking for hers. Last night I was informed that NBC was doing a segment on their 11 o’clock news called, “Dangerous Dogs”.
