Today is one year since my foster, Lucy, had been adopted. She was my “Fletcher” before Fletcher and after all the owner surrenders I’ve been hearing about lately, I probably would’ve understood if Lucy came back…but she didn’t. And I’m so proud of her Mom for never giving up on her. Thanks for this letter, Alicia. I love you and your family more than you know. 🙂 Dear John, It’s been a year since I took a crazy redhead named Lucy off your hands. I know she was one of your most......

The longer I foster (and I haven’t been doing it that long compared to most people in animal rescue) the more I hear the question(s), “How do you do it?” “Don’t you get attached?” The short answer to those questions are, “Because if I don’t, who will?” and “Yes, absolutely. 100%” I think I’ve negotiated with myself into how I could keep every foster that comes through my house. It’s impossible to not get attached, In fact, if you’re not getting attached, you probably shouldn’t foster. You gotta remember, you’re taking in......

The first time I walked the dogs with John, I walked Elvis. And Elvis walked like he had never walked on a leash before. He was everywhere, running onto the grass, smelling the trees, stopping abruptly and randomly. John, of course, knew what Elvis was capable of. He would watch Elvis and me, and not really give any direction, but rather kind of see how I handled it. Also, at the time, John didn’t know that I wanted to learn more about dogs; he thought I just wanted to walk, so he......

Back when Kurtis got adopted, I wrote him a letter because he had THAT much of an impact on my life. Lucy had just the same amount of impact just in a different way so it’s only fitting that I write a letter to my sweet Lucy…. Dear Lucy, It’s Sunday and I’m supposed to be cleaning my house but the house seems a little empty without you here so I decided to write you a letter instead. I swore to myself that I wouldn’t get attached to you but the exact......

Today’s blog is about WHY you should consider fostering a dog. In the very short amount of time I’ve been fostering for Priceless Pets, I’m always getting asked why I do this. Well, here a few reasons why YOU should: YOU FREE UP ROOM AND PROVIDE A “HOME” ENVORINMENT FOR A HOMELESS DOG: Fostering an animal means you free up room for another dog to be taken in. Essentially, you’re saving two lives! And while a rescue is stressful for just about all dogs, some dogs just don’t do well at all......

A few days ago I was talking to my mom about what we are doing for Mother’s Day and in the middle of the conversation she asked me, “Hey, isn’t that dog Lucy a Mom?” What are you doing for her?” To be honest, I hadn’t even thought about it but then it got me thinking that no mother should be homeless. Not on Mother’s Day. Not ever. Every Saturday, I see people lining up for the puppies and people only want to look at the mom to get an idea of......

So it took a whole 2 days for Kurtis’ room to be filled by Lucy. Lucy was rescued off the streets of Mexico as a pregnant mom. She’s around 2 years old and I THINK she’s maybe a hound dog mix? At the end of the day, it doesn’t really matter. If you adopt her, she can be whatever you want her to be! When Lucy first came to us, she was a sweet dog. It wasn’t too long before she had her pups (and what cute pups they were!) and like......
