Now that I have about a year of fostering experience under my belt I’ve come to realize that I don’t want to foster the “perfect dog”. There is no room here for that kind of dog in my house. You know, the pretty one who doesn’t bark that everyone likes. You know the dog that gets along with every dog that just happened to be dumped at the pound only because their previous owner sucked. Those dogs are not welcome here. Those dogs need to be at Priceless Pets because that’s where......

The longer I foster (and I haven’t been doing it that long compared to most people in animal rescue) the more I hear the question(s), “How do you do it?” “Don’t you get attached?” The short answer to those questions are, “Because if I don’t, who will?” and “Yes, absolutely. 100%” I think I’ve negotiated with myself into how I could keep every foster that comes through my house. It’s impossible to not get attached, In fact, if you’re not getting attached, you probably shouldn’t foster. You gotta remember, you’re taking in......

Today’s blog is about WHY you should consider fostering a dog. In the very short amount of time I’ve been fostering for Priceless Pets, I’m always getting asked why I do this. Well, here a few reasons why YOU should: YOU FREE UP ROOM AND PROVIDE A “HOME” ENVORINMENT FOR A HOMELESS DOG: Fostering an animal means you free up room for another dog to be taken in. Essentially, you’re saving two lives! And while a rescue is stressful for just about all dogs, some dogs just don’t do well at all......

Today I thought I would give everyone’s tear ducts a break and talk about how I think Kurtis got well so quick! People tend to give me a lot of credit for getting Kurtis back to health but I definitely didn’t do it alone! In fact, without the help of Priceless Pet’s very own, Ashlee Price, I don’t know that he would have gotten better so fast! Ashlee is all of 21 years old but she’s grown up in animal rescue so her experience goes far beyond her age. You see, Kurtis......

Today’s blog was supposed to be about Elvis and his trip to Brea Olinda High School but I ended up writing a letter to Kurtis instead… Dear Kurtis, Kurtis, 4 months ago you came into my life and completely turned it upside down. I always knew I had a big heart but I didn’t know how strong it was until you showed up. I remember the first day I met you. It took me about 10 seconds to decide I was going to foster you. Even though I had no idea HOW......

What can I say about Kurtis other than he’s probably one dog that at least one person in almost every city in the world probably knows about. You see, Kurtis isn’t supposed to be here. Kurtis was supposed to be a number that adds to the number of dogs that get neglected, abandoned and left for dead every year. He wasn’t supposed to have a story or a name. Kurtis was supposed to be nothing more than a casualty of what happens when you don’t fix your animals. Named after the man......

So I feel like I should explain to all of you why I’m not adopting Kurtis. This has NOTHING to do with the fact that I DON’T want to keep him. How could I not? I’ve spent countless days and nights making sure he’s received all his medical treatment. Walks, baths, socialization, training, etc. I love him. I love him so much it makes me sad to think he won’t be here much longer. But I also love him so much that I need to let him go. You see, in the......
