No, they’re not perfect. Or grateful, friendly or even housetrained. They won’t cuddle with you in the middle of the night or hang out with you on the couch. They don’t know the words “play,” “treat” or “walk,” or what it means to have a bounty of toys to choose from. They don’t know that the backyard is a place for them to run around in and that bath time means they stay cleaned. They don’t understand that going inside the house is a good thing, and that following you around like......

A few days ago, I was sent by Priceless Pets to pull a dog from a high kill shelter in Orange County. Based on his pics, we decided to name him, Tater Tot. You see, Tater Tot was dumped at the shelter. No, I don’t know the whole story but what I do know is that his old owners left him at a high kill shelter with a huge mass on his stomach, a tumor the size of a tennis ball. Tater Tot is 6 years old and maybe his old owners......

After a tough month, I ended it by adopting out another foster by the name of, Ziggy. With losing so many dogs in September, I don’t know that anyone would blame me for walking away from animal rescue. With all the words of support and encouragement from SO many people that kept my head up, it was the snorting and tail wagging of my foster Ziggy that kept my motor running. He made me realize that even though we don’t get to choose how long these animals live, we can choose what......

John has a tradition of writing a letter to his fosters once they leave his house, and while I’m not sending him off to his forever home (he already has a pretty awesome pack!), I thought that writing a letter would be applicable to him, considering what has happened this month. So without further ado, here is my letter to John. Dear John, September has been a very tough and long month for you, and I know that you’re probably struggling with many heartbreaking emotions that most people rarely, if ever, experience.......

A few weeks ago there was an article circulating about how Petsmart doesn’t allow any “bully breeds” into their pet hotel or doggie day care. As it should, it created a national backlash of bully owners saying they would never go to Petsmart again….including myself. My first thought was, “You’re gonna discriminate against MY dog? Well, you just lost my business.” I usually go to my local feed store for my pet needs but every now and then I end up in Petsmart. After thinking about it and being reminded of how......

It’s been hard for me to write lately. It’s like more bad news after more bad news just keeps coming and it’s taking its toll. If you didn’t know, I found out we lost another one of my former foster puppies to Parvo. I refuse to grow numb to this. I will not allow it but I would be lying if I said I wasn’t exhausted from this whole month. After about an hour after hearing the news I had to get ready to pick up another mom and her 2 pups......

Hey everyone. I know it’s been over a week since my last blog. It’s not that I didn’t want to write, I was just not in a place to write my feelings into words. Aside from losing the 7 GnR pups, I also lost 3 more dogs that I either fostered or previously fostered with the latest loss being a 3 legged retriever/chow mix named, Wolf. I will never forget the day Wolf was surrendered. His fluffy golden hair was a matted mess and he came in hopping along with all 3......

No matter what happens in your life, your family will always be there, whether you want them to or not. Even when they don’t support you or you’re fighting with them or you do something they don’t approve of – you can’t get rid of family. The point I’m trying to make with this is that my family members had a choice. They could choose to support my involvement with a misrepresented breed or they could start citing off “facts” about how many people pit bulls have mauled or killed. When I......

For the 2nd day in a row, I cannot put what I have to say into words. Hopefully, I get over this hump by tomorrow but I did find this interesting article that I wanted to share with you all. Some people don’t see what the problem is with buying a pet from a pet store. Well, those puppies come from puppy mills where momma dogs are bred over and over again. And it’s also a place where the puppies are treated so bad it makes high kill shelters look like a......

One year ago today, Elvis officially became part of the family. After I got Penny, I SWORE she would be the only dog I ever have and then Elvis came along. If you’ve been reading this blog you know how far this dog has come. He went from hours away from being euthanized to being saved by Priceless Pets. I think he spent ONE night at the Orphanage and then he became my first foster…and my first foster failure. This dog has helped Penny get over her fear of men. He’s CGC......

Somewhere in between laying little Portland to rest and taking in Ziggy, Elvis was on a Priceless Pets Sunday hike without me. You see, this is what I love about, Priceless Pets; everyone is always there for each other. Fellow Pittie Crew Member, Bri, offered to take Elvis on the hike and help with whatever needed to be done at my house so I could tend to Portland. I had also scheduled a Girl Scout tour which Mandy and Elisha handled for me. Thank you, ladies!! Bri and Elvis did the hike......

Somewhere in the midst of trying to keep our precious Portland alive on Sunday, a dog showed up to the vet office where we doing a Priceless Pet Rescue spay/neuter clinic. I was in the back isolation room holding Portland when Ashlee told me there was a “pit bull” in pretty bad shape out front that she wanted to me to look at. I handed Portland over to Lisa, cleaned up and went to go check this dog out. I come out to the front and there was this dog lying in......

Dear Portland, I’m writing this letter to you to give you something to read as you cross over that rainbow bridge and to read this to your brothers and sisters. I’m picking you because you undoubtedly were the strongest of your litter. Maybe you’re too young to know exactly what was going on but you haven’t left this Earth for not even 3 hours and the pain in my heart is something I have never felt before. Exactly one week ago today, I picked you and your siblings up to stay at......

I have not been able to go over to John’s house this week at all, mainly because I’ve been very busy, and he seems to have his hands full as well. However, despite this, he has given me some great pointers as a new dog owner that I would like to share with you through a series of blogs. I mentioned in my last post, Sierra is scared of everything. She is unsure about people, new places, loud noises, stairs…pretty much anything (except dogs; she doesn’t seem to mind dogs). Nate and......

“Was it you or I who stumbled first? It does not matter. The one of us who finds the strength to get up first, must help the other.” When I was a little kid, I had asthma pretty bad. I was pretty much allergic to everything. I would get these crazy asthma attacks seemingly out of nowhere. It would happen when my family was at Disneyland; it would sometimes happen at school, it would happen when neither of my parents was around. And sometimes they would be at work and there was......

I went and saw the puppies today. They made it through the night! They’re not in the clear yet but they’re getting there. Hopefully, they will be back with me by the end of this week. It’s been a long and trying week and it’s only Wednesday! The Guns ‘n Roses Crew is hanging in there and I can’t wait for them to come back to, Foster Farms! So I got a call from a friend yesterday and she was asking me, “How do you stay so happy and upbeat?” “I would......
