“I’m Not Mad, I’m Just Disappointed...”

Yesterday, Elisha and I went to the pound to pull some dogs (11 to be exact) to give them a 2nd chance at life. While that feeling in itself is a feeling so good I cannot describe today’s post is not about that. Today’s post is about the close to 100 other dogs and cats we couldn’t save. I don’t mean to bring you all down but this is the reality of it. It’s one thing to go to the pound with a mission to pull a certain dog. You can look......

To Medicate or Not to Medicate

I’m sure most of you have been following Fletcher’s progress and how far he’s come. A few people already know this but I want to share with you that Fletcher has been on doggy Prozac for about 2 months now. Now before all of you with anxious dogs call your vet to get a prescription filled I want you to read this first. I will say this now. Prozac does not FIX anything. You don’t give your dog a pill every day and just expect this pill to turn your dog into......

4 Weeks of Fletcher

Ok, I’m back. Sorry for the extended absence but I ended up with another concussion and then we had Thanksgiving last week so I’ve been out of commission as far as writing goes but I’m feeling better and it’s raining so I thought I would update you on my latest foster, Fletcher. As most of you know, I took on a new foster. His name is Fletcher. Unlike most of my fosters, Fletcher was not a medical case. He was a dog with extreme anxiety and he was so insecure it border......

Who Trusts Who?

As most of you know, I’ve taken in a new foster. His name is Fletcher. Fletcher was pulled by us back in May. He was literally tied to a pole on a highway road. He has major anxiety and shows signs of major insecurity. I usually take the medical cases but Fletcher needs a change of scenery and I actually offered to take this boy in. I know a lot of you deal with these issues with your own dogs and I commend you for not giving up on them. I will......

Elvis and Jude’s Day Out

Sorry for the lack of posts last week. Sometimes, I get caught up with my days and when I actually have time to write, I draw a complete blank. But it’s Monday and I’m back. I actually have lots to talk about this week but I thought I would start Monday off with something light. And it doesn’t get much lighter than spending the day with Elvis and Jude… Last week, I got a call from Casey (Jude’s mom) asking if I would like to accompany her and Jude out to Oak......

Some Things You Just Can’t Afford

On October 1st of this year, Priceless Pet Rescue Director, Mandy Stover, sent me down to the Orange County Animal Shelter to pull a dog that had been dumped by his family. He had a softball sized tumor on his stomach and this was his last day to be pulled before they euthanized him. I had been warned this could be a hospice case as his tumor was deemed cancerous. After going through what may be the most challenging month of September I’ve gone through with losing puppies to Parvo and another......

Third Time's A Charm! - Dear Ziggy,

This is the first time I’m writing a letter to a former foster for the 2nd time. The first letter I wrote to Ziggy never felt right and for good reason. Anyways, Ziggy has found his forever home and I can assure you he’s not coming back. Here’s my redo letter… Dear Ziggy, The first time I adopted you out, I was walking one way and your new family was walking the opposite way. You started to walk towards my direction. It kind of made me doublethink my decision on your new......

Maggie’s Story

I decided to do a little something different this week and dedicate this blog to cats! Some of you may or may not know, but along with Sierra, I also have two cats, and they are the silliest, sweetest, cutest kitties ever. My journey to Sierra begins with cats, so I feel like it is only fitting that I write about it. So, without further ado, here is my cat story… I have always liked cats ever since I was a little girl. I was lucky to grow up and form bonds......

A Day in the Life of a Teenage Rescuer

Journeying through the aisles I have to keep myself focused as to why I am here. Screams of desperation and stares pleading for life pierce through me. Knowing I cannot save each one of them scars me eternally. This part is never easy but it is a reminder why I am here. To help those who are separated from the world by a cold barrier. Ensuring their fear of loneliness and death, they are outlanders. I am in the middle of the mess irresponsibility has created and I can only help so......

My Promise to Wally

As most of you know, Wally hasn’t been feeling well. He has been having trouble getting up and walking so I took him into the vet yesterday. Turns out our favorite beagle has some ACL damage among his other ailments that come along with getting old. The ACL is the most concerning at the moment. Wally is 12 years old so surgery is not an option so he needs to lose some weight and is on pain meds and anti-inflammatories. The good news is that I had to carry him into the......

A Perfect Day To Be A “Pit Bull”

As most of you know, this past Saturday the Priceless Pets Pittie Crew put on “Pittie Fest 2014” and to say it was a success does not do it justice! This year we had twice as many vendors, twice as many people and raised 4 times the amount of money than we did last year! We had q1047  joining in on the fun, as well! Basically, we had a “Pittie Party” and the day was as perfect as could be! We had people come from all over California to join in on this......

It Begins with Me and Ends with Sierra

After adopting Sierra, I learned many new things about myself. I learned that I could be patient if I tried (for the most part). I learned that I could be protective (some would even say maternal – not me though). I learned that even after a long, tiring day, I could still muster up the energy to play with my loving, excited dog who always greets me at the door with her tail wagging and a (cat) toy in her mouth. It’s crazy to think of how easily Nate and I fell......

2nd Annual Priceless Pets Pittie Crew Pittie Fest!

If you didn’t know already, October is National Pit Bull Awareness Month, which means we are days away from the 2nd Annual Priceless Pets Pittie Crew Pittie Fest! From the looks of it, this year is going to be much much bigger than last years. If you can make it out I highly suggest you do! While this event is in support of the bully breeds, we encourage all dog owners and lovers to come out! We will have a costume contest for the dogs, games for kids, and we even have......

Why You Don’t Foster

You don’t do it because they’re sick You do it because they’ll get better You don’t do it because they’re old You do it so you can find them a family to grow old together You don’t do it do because they might die You do it so they don’t die alone You don’t do it for yourself You do it to show them the love they were never shown You don’t do it to change the world You do it because they changed yours You don’t do it because you have......

Chewy – Pet of the Month – October 2014

Everyone meet, Chewy! He’s the Pet of the Month for October! Chewy was adopted from Priceless Pets as a puppy and had to be returned 6 years later basically because of breed discrimination for being a “pit bull”. The funny thing is he’s not even a “pit bull”. Chewy is a boxer mix who is currently going through training. He knows sit, stay, down, leave it, and loves people! He is great with kids and takes treats from them in the gentlest way. I never met Chewy’s previous owners but after spending......

Because of a “Pit Bull”…

As I started writing today’s blog, it quickly went from a story to a list so instead of putting this into a story I thought I’d share my list with you. And with October being National Pit Bull Awareness Month, the timing is perfect! So here you go…Feel free to add to the list if you like! -Because of a “pit bull” I have learned to stop worrying so much about what other people think and let my actions be my words.     -Because of a “pit bull” I’ve learned that......
